Kinetic Blast
Kinetic Blast fires a projectile from a wand that causes a series of small explosions surrounding its point of impact, each damaging enemies caught in the area.
Skill functions and interactions
Multiple Projectiles: Kinetic blast always produces 4 explosions per projectile impact. This makes supports such as Lesser Multiple Projectiles Support and Greater Multiple Projectiles Support valuable additions for clearing groups. Note that only one projectile per attack can contact any enemy at a time. While it is possible to cause the explosions to overlap on a single target from multiple projectiles careful targeting is required. Positioning an enemy in front of a wall or obstacle is one of the most reliable ways to make sure the areas overlap since Kinetic Blast can no long interact with the player or ally's Frost Walls, as of Version 2.4.0.
Piercing, Forking, and Chaining: Kinetic Blast will produce its 4 additional explosions for each enemy contacted by the projectile. This makes piercing, chaining, and forking useful mechanics to utilize for clearing large groups of enemies. However, due to the large damage penalty associated with supporting a skill with Chain Support, chain is not recommended unless it comes from a passive source skill such as the Deadeye notable passive Ricochet.
Area of Effect: Increases to this skill's area of effect such as those in the skill tree or Increased Area of Effect Support will affect both the radius of the explosions and their spacing apart from each other, meaning more area of effect will increase coverage but not increase the chance of multiple explosions hitting a single target.
Version history
VersionChanges
3.13.0
Kinetic Blast and Storm Call have brand new effects.
3.12.0
Now has alternative gem quality.
3.10.0
Now deals base damage and has an added damage effectiveness of 140% at gem level 1 (from 120%), up to 155% at gem level 20 (from 147%).
3.4.0
Now deals 35% less Area Damage (down from 25% less).
Explosion placement has been reworked. They are now divided across 4 equal arcs (like pizza slices). In cases where there is no space in an arc that it could place an explosion, that explosion is not placed. Explosion spacing is also now more regular. The net result is that in open spaces, the area coverage will, on average, be more even, but single-target damage in tight spaces is now lower.
2.6.0
Kinetic Blast's radius has increased from 10 to 14. Kinetic Blast's spread of explosions has also been increased to avoid overlapping with the primary target as a result of the changes to the explosion radius.
Increased Area of Effect radius replaced with Increased Area of Effect
1.3.0d
The art for Kinetic Blast has been made blue to prevent it from appearing disabled when it is active.
1.3.0
Kinetic Blast has been added to the game.
